Fr. Rojin’s Wit & Wisdom – October 22, 2023

On Saturday at 11 AM, the Diocese of Bridgeport will commemorate its 70th anniversary with a special Mass at the cathedral. The event will feature unique readings and hymns specific to this milestone celebration. Father David and I will officiate this service, and representatives from across the diocese will join us, reflecting our unity and collective journey in faith. The highlight of this ceremony will be the solemn prayers of consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, symbolizing our renewed devotion and commitment. Further embracing this spirit of consecration, St. Jerome Church will extend this devotional act by carrying out additional prayers of consecration within our parish community this Sunday. This confluence of celebrations not only reflects our gratitude for the countless blessings received over the diocese's seven-decade history but also invites the faithful from all corners of our community to participate. It's an opportunity for everyone to reconsecrate themselves to the perpetual grace of God, acknowledging our past and inspiring our future spiritual journey. Recently, St. Jerome's parish experienced a moment of profound pride and gratitude during the Saint Augustine Medal ceremony at the Cathedral. This event recognized the selfless contributions of Joe and Andrea Licek, who were honored for their unwavering commitment to our community. Representing St. Jerome, they have generously dedicated their time and skills, significantly benefiting our church. It was a privilege to witness their deserved recognition, highlighting their role among many unsung heroes within our parish. Though each year we can nominate only two for this honor, it's essential to acknowledge that our parish thrives because of numerous individuals like Joe and Andrea, who work quietly and tirelessly in service. Their genuine desire to foster a vibrant parish community, expecting nothing in return, is truly the embodiment of the spirit we cherish at St. Jerome. Let's collectively congratulate and express our deepest appreciation for the Liceks' continued sacrifices, acknowledging the essential role such dedication plays in the life and heart of our community. I am delighted to provide you with an update on the considerable progress made at St. Jerome. We have recently completed the rectory roof work, which was financed entirely through our successful raffle. This is a testament to our community's incredible support. In addition, the boiler project is underway, and we now have operational heating. We anticipate the imminent completion of the main church's air blower system and the installation of new air conditioners. These enhancements are essential for our parish's comfort and longevity, and we have been able to accomplish them thanks to your patience, understanding, and generous backing throughout the entire process. Your involvement and concern in these ongoing improvements continue to support our beloved St. Jerome for many years to come. Thank you for your continued support. Let's celebrate the 70th anniversary of our diocese with joy and gratitude! Yours Lovingly – Fr. Rojin
